AMATA GREEN ANNOUNCES ITS FALL 2020 SUSTAINABILITY INTERNS!
KARL FROSCHEISER
Mr. Karl Froscheiser is attending George Mason University in their Environmental Science and Policy master’s program. He graduated in May of 2018 from Coastal Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science and a minor in mathematics. During his undergraduate degree, Mr. Froscheiser focused his time mainly on academics and personal research with the intent to prepare for graduate school. The personal research focused on the concentration of microplastics oysters inside the organism Crassostrea virginica. This research sparked Mr. Froscheiser’s interest in being a part of the policy side of science to prevent environmental problems arising from preventable issues. This led to his career goal of being a part of environmental policy ranging from local to global levels.

OLGA CHELTSOVA
Ms. Olga Cheltsova is a graduate student in Environmental Science and Policy at George Mason University, with a particular interest in food security, application of permaculture methods in non-monocropping agriculture, and sustainable farming practices as tools to address planetary and human health.
While studying International Relations at the University of Mary Washington, Ms. Cheltsova volunteered at an agro-ecology center called Community Cloud Forest Conservation, which addresses issues of indigenous girls’ education, cloud forest reforestation, species conservation, and hydro energy, being located in Guatemala, Alta Verapaz, a predominantly indigenous Q’eqchi region. Ms. Cheltsova has also worked with NGOs, helping elementary school students become stronger and more resilient individuals.
As a part of her internship at Amata Green, Ms. Cheltsova will work on projects such as biochar development in the U.S. and globally. She will also delve into matters of carbon sequestration in agriculture, carbon markets, water conservation and matters related to land & soil health.
