Amata Green Announces it’s Spring 2021 Interns!
Douglas Solis, Team Lead
Originally from Guatemala, Mr. Douglas Solis is pursuing his last semester in Master of Business Administration in International Affairs at Bay Atlantic University in Washington D.C. He graduated in May 2018 from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Economics and minor in Business.
During his undergraduate, Mr. Solis worked as an agricultural research innovation intern in the digitization of Food and Agribusiness for a multinational agribusiness company. Now, in graduate school, Mr. Solis has worked for a non-profit organization focused on sustainability and public affairs in the international development sector. After graduation, he plans to advance his knowledge in the management consulting sector and international business development in Agribusiness in the global perspective. Mr. Solis will be acting as a Team Lead and working on an international business agri-project during his internship at Amata Green. Natalie Kra, Team Lead
Ms. Natalie Kra is a 2nd year MBA and MENV student at the University of Colorado Boulder, focusing her studies on sustainable supply chain management within the food industry. She was also an intern with Amata Green in the Fall of 2020 and will be returning for another semester. With a background in environmental studies and energy efficiency consulting, Ms. Kra plans to continue to use her passion to advise businesses and institutions on the ways in which sustainability initiatives can add value to the triple bottom line. She is particularly interested in the packaged food/goods space. With Amata Green, this semester, Ms. Kra will be acting as a Team Lead and will be researching matter related to sustainability in agriculture, supply chain, business organization and managing several of the teams. Aleksandr Strekalov, Engineering
Mr. Aleksandr Strekalov is a graduate student from Russia at the State University of New York under the Fulbright Program, pursuing his degree in Sustainable Energy Systems. Having ten years of background in the heat and power production industry, Mr. Strekalov has been learning practices and trends in the energy field and has obtained an understanding that the next 20 years will be the most challenging and revolutionary time for the sector in terms of zero-carbon economy. Driven by the desire to scrutinize more about sustainable systems, Mr. Strekalov will be working with Amata Green’s Engineering and Sustainability teams concentrating his attention on different technological, environmental and business aspects related to the best practices within the biochar industry. Ramya Mowlika Padala, Team Lead
Ms. Ramya Mowlika Padala is a Business Analytics Graduate student at Fox school of Business, Temple University. She is currently based in Philadelphia and she is from India. She has done her Bachelor’s in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Her experience in the field of data analytics comes from the academic and passion projects she has done. She has worked on projects like analyzing e-commerce, healthcare and housing data . Her expertise include building dashboards in Tableau and developing predictive models in R. Give her data and see her tell story with it. Her ultimate career goal is to be able work on projects that contribute towards welfare of the society in some way. Ms. Padala will be acting as a Team Lead and also analyzing data for Amata Green related to agriculture and the environment as well as business financial analysis. Antony Nguyen, Team Lead
Mr. Nguyen is an undergraduate student at Oregon State University. He will be graduating in the Spring of 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Chemistry. Having the opportunity to work as a pharmacy technician during high school sparked Mr. Nguyen’s interest in pursuing a career within the Chemical Engineering field. He has always been captivated by the creation of materials, more specifically, pharmaceuticals due to the rewarding sense of improving an individual's life and the direct impact on future development processes. As an intern at Amata Green, Mr. Nguyen will be acting as a Team Lead and will be working with Amata Green’s Engineering and Sustainability teams on a major project plan to launch in Europe. Sandra Jose, Biotechnology Intern
Sandra Jose is a final year B.Tech. Biotechnology student at Vels Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies, in Chennai, India and who earnestly wants to explore the applications of bioinformatics to study the plant genome organisation, crop performance, detrimental effects of agrochemicals on soil microbiome and several others which would help in meeting the objectives of sustainable development.
Currently, interning at OpenTox, she works to create an inventory of all global resources in toxicology and risk/safety assessment. Additionally, she serves as an Immunology intern at ImmunitoAI. Last summer, she worked as an intern at CSIR-NEIST, India, and completed the project entitled “Identification of Potential Phytomolecules against Spike Glycoprotein of SARS CoV-2: An in silico Approach”. Being Remtech Europe 2021 Ambassador, Ms. Jose is determined to widen her research towards environmental toxicity and aspires to create Artificial Intelligence based gears for toxicity management. Ms. Jose will be working on special biotechnology projects for Amata Green for the Spring 2021 semester. Luca Barani
Mr. Luca Barani has recently completed a Master’s degree in Resource Economics and Sustainable Development at the University of Bologna in Italy. From his experience working for NGOs on sustainable development projects Mr. Barani has developed a great awareness of climate change and its related effects. Luca will support Amata Green in building a more sustainable and safer world by applying nature-based solutions as mitigation policies against climate change. Layla Horeff
Ms. Layla Horeff is a junior at Loyola University Maryland where she is pursuing a Business Management degree with a minor in Environmental and Sustainability Studies. Ms. Horeff’s interests with sustainability stem from volunteering with the Magothy River Association and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, where she worked on oyster and Submerged Aquatic Vegetation (SAV) restoration which fueled an interest in sustainable agriculture. The fall of her junior year was supported to be spent abroad in Berlin, Germany studying green business development, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ms. Horeff’s international plans are now centered around interning with Amata Green and working on the company’s European project, remotely. As a part of her internship at Amata Green, Ms. Horeff will work on projects related to the company’s European-based sustainability venture and will be researching topics related to international business relations, climate change, carbon markets, and European agriculture. Arleny Paulino
Ms. Arleny Paulino is an undergraduate student at The City College of New York, working toward her degree in Economics with an emphasis in Financial Economics. As a student, Ms. Paulino has worked on projects such as creating her own Stock Portfolio as well as researching the economic effects of women migration to the United States. Ms. Paulino has also taken courses in Financial Modeling and Decisions, sparking her interest in potentially pursuing a career as a Financial Analyst. It was here that she was able to learn and practice technical skills like Excel functions, modeling, forecasting, data analysis and others. Harsheni Krishnan Sreedharan, Team Lead
Ms. Harsheni Krishnan Sreedharan is a Graduate student at University of Texas at Dallas pursuing her Master of Science in Information Technology and Management. She will be graduating in the Spring 2021 and wants to advance herself in the field of Data Analytics and Project Management. She did her bachelor’s degree in India and majored in Information Technology.
Having worked as a Business Analyst in a Textile manufacturing company in India, Ms. Sreedharan has developed a keen interest for big data and data visualization and to work in challenging environments. In her master’s degree, she completed multiple data analysis and visualization projects with advanced tools, and honed her analysis skills to meet the emerging industrial needs. Alexandra Nunes
Alexandra Nunes lives in Portugal and has studied Modern Languages and Literature at the University of Algarve. She is currently enrolled in a Post-Graduation course on Applied Linguistics and Translation. Ms. Nunes loves to write on a variety of topics and is interested in agriculture and sustainability in her country. She currently writes regular blogs. Ms. Nunes will be Amata Green’s Social Media Intern and will be creating and managing the company's Instagram account.
